Here One Day, Gone the Next

There was a big tree -- it was to one side of the front of my house, growing in the grass median the Village of Oak Park owns. At about 1.15 PM a tree trimming truck and a chipped rolls up, and without ado, the crew cuts the tree down in about 25 minutes. Here one day, gone the next.

Don't you just hate that? You'd think the least they could do is inform people in the neighborhood.

They told my neighbors -- sent them a little note 24 hours before they did it. I wish they had told me too, the tree was ailing, but I hate it when they have to cut down a big tree. I'm going to try and count the rings today, and see how old it was. :-(

The tree was about 105 years old.
