then looked straight in the

without shirking or
making any kind
of flimsy excuse
i know the devil is me
thinking the devil is
a foe
urgently to be eluded
bargained tricked lied
or destroyed
i'm looking at him now
and he's looking
me
nothing much to say
because there's no fight
